Similarities and differences between digital and analogue photography

First here are  some of  the similarities and differences of the digital and analogue cameras.

The similarities between these two cameras are that  they Both come with a lens, flash, and a viewfinder. They also both use aperture(controls the brightness of the image that passes through the lens and falls on the image sensor), shutter(is a device that allows light to pass for a determined period, exposing photographic film or a photosensitive digital sensor to light in order to capture a permanent image of a scene), and ISO(a camera setting that will brighten or darken a photo).

However,  there are some of the differences between the two cameras . For example, you will need to spend money to print out the pictures captured by an analogue camera, to share the pictures with your friends and family. Whereas, with a digital camera you don’t need to spend any money to share the pictures as you can transfer the pictures to your computer and easily share the pictures without any hassle. You can also make as many copies of the images as you want. In addition, you cannot check the shots taken with an analogue camera as there is no display screen.  When using a digital camera, you can check the shots on the display screen and you can delete any image if you don’t like it.

Moreover,  when the light comes in contact with the photographic film, it will go through a series of chemical changes to capture the image in a film camera. Whereas, in a digital camera, an electronic image sensor will record the brightness of the captured light by gathering an electrical charge. The charges from the pixels are measured to convert into digital numbers. These are then used to re-create the image. To add there is a difference between the storage options between the two types of cameras. A film camera will store the captured images in the film, which can be later processed and printed. The digital camera sensor will store the captured images in the memory card.

Here are the differences between actual digital and analogue photographs

As I have researched this information, I have notice that the analogue photos do come out more vibrantly and more clearly due to the higher dynamic range, which shows that analogue is better at capturing details in whites and blacks and can’t be replicated with digital cameras. Also analogue can capture subtle details lost in digital photography to add Analogue is more forgiving of minor focusing issues and exposure problems. On the other hand, even though digital images don’t come out as vibrant as the analogue photos the digital photographs can be edited directly on the camera. Also, many digital cameras offer built-in filters. This can make digital images look different due to the editing rather than the same filters as the analogue.
